It is hard to believe that our week is coming to an end. It has been said more than once within the group that time flew and we are not sure where 8 days went. The funny thing though is within that flying time was nestled many moments of being present and soaking up the experience in any way I could.
We did so much in our time here, from building homes, creating relationships with people (both team members and the local community), filling in ditches, prepping a concrete wall, going for ice cream, climbing the tower, playing with the kids, nightly trips to Super Selecto, a hairy scary trip to the market and more , I guess it makes sense time appeared to fly by.
I thought I would have tons of time to stop and reflect on the beach. Really start thinking about my experience and what I was drawing on to try and make sense of it all. However, in the ongoing theme of the week, the day flew by so quick I didn’t sit for more than a couple of minutes.
I spent lots of time getting rolled by the ocean waves as the tide came in and providing ongoing entertainment for a few ladies in our group with my inability to stay above the water! It resulted in a lot of laughs and a time I will not forget anytime soon!
my name is dee-ann…
a continual work in progress. mom. wife. photographer. believer. dreamer. storyteller.
oh yeah, I also like chocolate and bacon (but not together).
my one little word for 2014 is “action”
it is actually two little words as I that's just the rebel I have become...
and remembering that...
learning is action.
reading is action.
action without thinking (and thinking about what you are drawing on to think about your thinking) is potentially dangerous.
inspiring others through your own wise action is helpful.
sometimes the wise action is not to physically act but rather take mental action first.
words are empty without corresponding wise action.
this year I am focusing on what it will take to ensure that my action is wise more times than not?
and further to question why does it matter?
Why does being concerned about wise action matter to me individually but also, to use last years word, when we zoom out collectively what are the consequences of unwise action?
you know, nothing to complex, just a little light thinking this year!
